Online Dating: The Guide to Writing Your Profile.

Your online dating profile is one of the most important parts of online dating. Essentially an advert to sell yourself, it’s the first introduction a person has to you. Because of this, you’ll want to make sure it’s attention-grabbing, exciting, and, most of all, accurate. All of this may seem simple, but trust us, when it comes to sitting down and actually writing your profile, you’ll probably struggle to articulate what you want to say – all while making it an interesting read.

So how can you make sure your profile stands out from the millions of others, without being really cringe or OTT?

Be creative

The first thing you need to do is think outside the box and get creative. Everyone writes in first person and uses the word “I” every other sentence, but what if you went down a different path? If you’re good at words, think about creating a story about yourself (real of course) to paint a more exciting picture of you and your life to potential partners.

Get it proofed

Some people won’t even notice a missing apostrophe, a spelling error, or the misuse of a semicolon, but why take that chance? If grammar and spelling isn’t your forte, get someone you know to have a look over it and make sure it reads well. Those who do notice these things may be more inclined to move on to another profile if it’s littered with errors.

Don’t use clichés

“I’m looking for my soulmate” and “I’m ready to meet the one” are common entries on profiles. But even if these are true, don’t write it on your page. Everyone will have the same sentences on their profile, and as your aim is to stand out, you’ll want to convey a different message. If you are looking for a serious relationship, use other phrases and language to convey this in a more unique and classy manner.

Don’t brag

No one likes someone who blows their own trumpet, so don’t be that person. Telling the world how great you are at sports, or how attractive you are will only turn people off. Instead, write honestly about your interest, and choose a great picture so potential partners can make up their own minds about your looks.

Be honest

The best advice is to be honest. You will never find a lasting relationship online if you portray a completely different person on your online dating profile. So to make sure you find the right person for you, use a tone of voice that is distinctly you, don’t lie and try not to exaggerate achievements and interests too much!

OCD & Anxiety Inside a Relationship.

Anxiety and OCD are often talked about in the same breath and frequently come hand in hand. Someone suffering from issues with anxiety may well end up developing OCD type behavior as a mechanism with which to cope with this, leading to a spiral of destructive habits that can be harmful not only to them but also to their friends, family and partners.
